Donations

Donation Methods

We accept donations through multiple secure methods:

  • Stripe: Credit/debit card donations processed through our website (when Stripe integration is active)
  • PayPal: One-time or recurring donations through PayPal's secure platform
  • Venmo: Quick mobile payments through Venmo
  • Check: Mail checks to Islamic Center of Muncie, 5141 West Hessler Road, Muncie, IN 47304

By making a donation through any third-party service (Stripe, PayPal, Venmo), you agree to that service's terms and privacy policy.

Tax Deductibility

Islamic Center of Muncie is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. We will provide a receipt for your donation, which serves as proof for tax purposes. Please consult your tax advisor for specific guidance on deductibility.

Donation Allocation

Donations are used to support the mission and programs of Islamic Center of Muncie, including:

  • Daily operations and facility maintenance
  • Educational programs (Sunday School, Hifz classes, Islamic studies)
  • Community services and events
  • Food relief program
  • Zakat assistance fund
  • Building improvements and upgrades

While we make every effort to honor donor designations (such as Zakat, Education, Building Fund), we reserve the right to use donations where they are most needed if the designated purpose is no longer applicable or fully funded.

Zakat Donations

Donations designated as Zakat will be distributed only to eligible recipients according to Islamic law (Shariah). We maintain separate accounting for Zakat funds to ensure proper distribution to the eight categories of recipients specified in the Quran.

Recurring Donations

If you set up a recurring monthly donation through PayPal or Stripe, you authorize us to charge your payment method automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel your recurring donation at any time by:

  • Contacting us directly at contact@icmuncie.org or (765) 289-5593
  • Managing your subscription through your PayPal or Stripe account

Cancellation will take effect in the next billing cycle. You will not be charged for future months after cancellation, but previous donations are non-refundable.

Refund Policy

All donations are final and non-refundable except in the following circumstances:

  • Duplicate charges due to technical error
  • Unauthorized charges
  • Charges made in error (wrong amount entered)

To request a refund, please contact us within 30 days of the donation with your receipt and explanation. Refund requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and processed within 10 business days if approved.

Processing Fees

Payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, Venmo) charge transaction fees (typically 2.2% plus $0.30 per transaction for domestic cards). When using Stripe on our website, you may have the option to cover these fees to ensure 100% of your donation reaches our programs. This is optional and you may choose not to cover these fees.

User-Submitted Information

Accuracy of Information

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when using our forms (contact, donation, volunteer applications, food relief applications, Zakat assistance applications). You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your information and updating it as needed.

Data Collection and Use

Information you submit through our Website is subject to our Privacy Policy. By submitting information, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in our Privacy Policy.

Contact Form

Messages submitted through our contact form are for legitimate inquiries only. We reserve the right to ignore or block spam, abusive, or inappropriate messages. You will receive an automated confirmation email when your message is received, and our team will respond within 24-48 hours.

Volunteer Applications

By submitting a volunteer application, you:

  • Certify that all information provided is true and accurate
  • Agree that we may contact your references
  • Understand that submission does not guarantee acceptance
  • Agree to follow our volunteer policies and guidelines
  • Will receive a confirmation email and be contacted within 3-5 business days

Food Relief Applications

By submitting a food relief application, you:

  • Certify that all information provided is true and accurate
  • Understand that we may verify the information provided
  • Agree to check your email regularly for pickup schedules
  • Understand that pickup schedules are for your household only and must not be shared
  • Agree to respond to emails from ICM to avoid delays or loss of benefits
  • Will bring valid ID and proof of address when picking up food
  • Understand that all food provided is halal

Zakat Assistance Applications

By submitting a Zakat assistance application, you:

  • Certify that all information provided is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge
  • Understand that Islamic Center of Muncie may verify this information
  • Agree that we may contact your references
  • Understand that all information is kept strictly confidential
  • Understand that submission does not guarantee approval
  • Will be notified of the decision within 5-7 business days
  • Understand that assistance is provided based on need and available resources
  • Agree to use any assistance received for the stated purpose

Verification and Fraud Prevention

We reserve the right to verify information provided in applications through:

  • Contacting references
  • Requesting additional documentation
  • Checking for duplicate applications
  • Conducting interviews or home visits if necessary

Providing false information or attempting to defraud our assistance programs may result in:

  • Denial of current and future applications
  • Termination of services
  • Reporting to appropriate authorities if fraud is suspected
