Zakat Assistance

The Islamic Center of Muncie provides emergency Zakat assistance of up to $250 per qualified family or $200 per qualified individual to help meet urgent needs related to housing, utilities, and other essential expenses.

When you submit your application, our Zakat Committee will carefully analyze your household information, income details, and the specific financial hardship you are facing. The committee will contact the references you provide to verify your situation and better understand your circumstances. This verification process helps ensure that Zakat funds reach those who genuinely need assistance.

The committee evaluates each application based on several key factors: your household size and composition, total monthly income compared to living expenses, the urgency and nature of your financial need, and whether you meet the Islamic criteria for receiving Zakat. The assistance amount is determined individually for each case, considering both your specific needs and the availability of Zakat funds. Please allow at least one week for the committee to complete their thorough review and reach a decision.

Zakat funds are collected from our community's obligatory charity and distributed to those who qualify according to Islamic principles. All applications are handled with complete confidentiality and dignity. If approved, assistance will be provided directly to you or paid to your service provider.
